RecoveriX Neurotechnology is a closed-loop rehabilitation system for training the upper or lower extremities of patients suffering from motor impairment due to stroke or other neurological disease or injury. It is the first brain-computer interface rehabilitation system that combines mental activity (including imagining movements) with real-time visual and tactile feedback.
When a patient imagines a joint movement and simultaneously receives visual feedback through a virtual avatar on the monitor and tactile feedback through electrical muscle stimulation, this useful feedback encourages the patient to imagine and execute the movement correctly. The simultaneous activation of both sensory and motor functions is essential for brain plasticity.
