The X-Porte‘s fundamental enhancement is a new imaging technology not previously used in ultrasound systems and patented by SonoSite called Extreme Definition Imaging (XDI). XDI was created by the company’s chief technology officer, J.-J. Hwang, as a result of 35 applications.J. Hwang as a result of 35 years of applied ultrasound research. XDI provides suppression of side lobe artifacts that distort all ultrasound images, regardless of system size. The presence of a visual guide makes the X-Porte user-friendly and enhances its interoperability, helping to realize the full potential of XDI technology. High-resolution images combined with 3D animations allow the user to get the most out of the system. Integrated training modules can be used directly in the scanning process to optimize the current study steps and increase consistency of results. SonoSite worked closely with leading developers and animation modeling experts in the automotive industry and remote medical training. Highly qualified physicians with teaching experience were involved in the creation of all 3D training modules. The SonoSite User Experience Development Group has created a unique multi-touch interface based on Multi-Gesture technology, comparable in simplicity and convenience to home appliance interfaces. Users can customize it to their personal preferences by repositioning the controls with a smooth hand movement, without the need for any buttons. The easy-to-clean, sealed interface has minimal gaps and recesses, making it easy to protect against infection. The glass surface is moisture resistant and allows the use of a variety of disinfectants. The X-Porte ultrasound system makes it possible to optimize workflow in a wide range of environments. It is designed to be height-adjustable and the touch panel can be used in a sitting or standing position. The system’s compact design allows it to be easily moved around corridors and placed at the patient’s bedside. When floor space is not available, the X-Porte ultrasound unit can be removed from the base.
