The RHINO-SYS rhinomanometric complex is a complete nasal breathing diagnostic system. It consists of rhinomanometry, rhinoresistometry, acoustic rhinometry and long-term rhinometry (daily monitoring). The combination of rhinoresistometry and acoustic rhinometry not only objectifies the degree of nasal obstruction but also differentiates its causes (narrowing due to edema or cartilage deformity, pathologic nasal valve inspiratory collapse, and pathologic turbulence). Daily monitoring allows to obtain an analysis of nasal breathing over 24 hours, during the daily life of the patient.

The RHINO rhinomanometric complex allows you to perform the following tests
Anterior active rhinomanometry (PARM)
Nasal velocity is measured using a breathing mask with a special highly sensitive measuring sensor. During the measurement there is no change in the shape of the nose and septum, as well as the diameter of the nostril, as is the case when examining with skirts and olives on other rhinomanometers. The direct connection of the mask and the highly sensitive sensor gives an accurate result of the study.Bacterial filter ensures the cleanliness of the measuring device. Rhinoresistometry is a further development of rhinomanometry, based on the laws of hydrodynamics.The program calculates relevant values of parameters based on the physical laws of flow dynamics from the data of anterior active rhinomanometry, such as pressure drop between the nostrils and the choana and flow velocity. This method is called rhinoresistometry. Rhinoresistometry not only objectively assesses the degree of breathing difficulty, but also provides initial information about the causes of increased resistance, such as narrowing of the air passage channel, the level of turbulence in the air stream, nasal valve aspiratory collapse, and the hydraulic diameter of the nasal passage. Acoustic Rhinometry RHINO-ACOUSTIC
Acoustic rhinometry is based on computerized analysis of sound reflections. Sound impulses are created and directed into the nasal cavity using a nasal adapter. The geometric shape of the nasal cavity creates a specific pattern of sound reflections.A microphone at the nostril records the spectrum of reflected sounds. A special program calculates cross-sectional areas for different distances from the nostril based on the amplitude of changes in the sound spectrum and the time delay between sending and receiving the sound signal. This method provides an objective picture of intranasal geometry. Measurements are taken before and after the administration of vasoconstrictors. The results are summarized in a graph. In addition, the nasal band volume can be calculated within given limits and the cause of pathological turbulence can be analyzed. The results are summarized in a graph.
Daily (long-term) rhinomanometry
Daily (long-term) rhinomanometry is a portable measurement system that allows 24-hour recording of breathing separately for both sides of the nose. Synchronized heart rate recording allows assessment of physical condition . This method was developed because the aforementioned measurement methods only assess nasal breathing during measurement. However, many patients complain of discomfort at other times of the day or at night. This method allows the nasal cycle to be recorded.
Specialized software
In addition to hydraulic engineers and physicists, the software was developed by the renowned Professor Gunter Mlynskifrom the University of Greifswald (Department of Head and Neck Surgery). Thanks to the coordinated work of all specialists, the software provides a complete and objective analysis of the nasal breathing status and can be integrated into the hospital-wide network via DICOM and HL7 protocols.
