United Imaging Healthcare has committed $14 million dollars to fight COVID-19

We would like to share with you today the success story of United Imaging Healthcare (UIH) in the fight against COVID 19. Everyone follows the disappointing statistics of coronavirus infection on a daily basis. As we already know, China has managed to defeat the epidemic and even lifted the quarantine in Hubei Province. Since December, the number of coronavirus victims in China has totaled 3,304, with 82,122 cases reported. At the same time, nearly 75,582 people have recovered and left medical facilities. It is very important for all the other countries that are now fighting the virus to learn from the successful experience of countries that have managed to contain the infection and spread of the virus, and avoid numerous human casualties. As we have previously written on our website and Facebook page, there is a widespread belief that X-ray scans, especially CT scans, should be used in the regions where the virus is present. This diagnostic method should be used in regions where there is a shortage of test kits and no rapid polymerase chain reaction (PCR) blood tests are available. China operated 16 temporary hospitals during the COVID 19 outbreak. China gave the WHO $20 million dollars to fight the coronavirus, but China itself received $4.23 billion in donations. But now Chinese experts are helping around the world and giving advice, for example, they have now traveled to Iran and Italy for this purpose. China’s experts are now helping to fight the coronavirus. United Imaging Healthcare has been actively engaged in the fight against the epidemic since the outbreak began. The company has installed more than 100 CT and X-ray machines in China at record speed to help quickly diagnose coronavirus. We all watched the construction of the 1,000-bed Wuhan Field Emergency Hospital, which was completed in less than 10 days. In that short time, United Imaging Healthcare completed the installation of three CT scanners: a CST 780 system (160 slices) and two CST 760 systems (128 slices). The systems took half as long to install as usual. The company dispatched 15 service engineers to work three shifts and a team of 25 people, including a project manager, clinical application specialists and field support. Total UIH has committed $14 million in mobile emergency rooms for patient scans (Emergency radiology departments (Emergency RDs)) in Chinese field hospitals, which have been set up in sports centers, exhibition halls and schools, to combat an outbreak of a new coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The emergency rooms from UIH are modular, watertight, insulated scanning rooms with 20m2 of space and a console area. The installed equipment is equipped with artificial intelligence-based uVision software that enables automatic patient positioning and scanning (masked patient recognition and motion tracking) from the control room. The ability for radiologists to operate CT scans outside of the scan room reduces the risk of infection between healthcare workers and patients, and allows for scans to be performed on a large number of patients daily. In addition to all of this, UIH has developed a specially trained artificial intelligence system that assists in the screening and diagnosis of COVID-19. This technology uses a deep learning algorithm to identify CT images that correlate strongly with COVID-19, to identify potential COVID-19 patients and notify radiologists to treat these cases first. The rooms are also connected via 5G internet to the local hospital network. In early March, more than 30 of these mobile scanning rooms from UIH were operating in China, with six systems being installed outside of China and another 30 ready for installation. When the use of such mobile rooms is necessary:
  • In a hospital, a CT room cannot be found immediately or a special outpatient facility is needed.
  • For temporary field hospitals.
Benefits of using UIH’s mobile CT emergency room:
  • Fast installation and removal.
  • Modern high-tech CT scanners providing:
– fast scanning (7 sec per lung scan) – fast workflow (2 min per patient) -high throughput of over 300 patients in 12 hours
  • Utilizing uAI artificial intelligence specifically designed to combat Covid 19
Wishing everyone good mood and good health.
