Unique choice of two isotopes, Ir-192 and Co-60, according to individual customer needs and preferences. Dose distribution based on the TG-43 formalism is equivalent for cobalt-60 and iridium-192. Both miniature sources have been in clinical use for more than 10 years and are suitable for the same clinical applications. Because of the long half-life of Co-60, this source can operate for up to 5 years, which means that during the recommended lifetime of a single Co-60 source, an Ir-192 source would need to be replaced 20 times. The long lifetime of the miniature cobalt-60 source reduces logistics time and increases clinic uptime.

In-vivo dosimetry is an important quality assurance method for high dose rate brachytherapy for, for example, cervical cancer. It provides information that helps ensure that an accurate, targeted and appropriate dose is delivered. The unique in-vivo dosimetry system allows direct, independent monitoring of rectal and bladder doses on the control console along with treatment information. Dose limits can be determined using SagiNova® treatment management software; if bladder or rectum dose limits are exceeded, warnings are displayed. Complete data is integrated into the treatment record for easy documentation. Because the system works directly from the SagiNova® treatment control point, In-Vivo dosimetry is easily integrated into the treatment process without additional equipment or screens. Automatic length measurement and verification system makes convenient and safe multichannel application possible. When applicator is selected in SagiPlan®, the applicator length and total length are digitally transferred to SagiNova® without the need for any manual input. The source simulator measures the length of the entire channel before each source movement to enable verification of the correct channel length. The accurately measured length of each individual channel is automatically used to accurately position the active source relative to the tip landmark.
